Carmen Bewarder

Part-time student working in social media

What’s the latest thing you’ve discovered?

Hiking. Especially in Bavaria or when travelling. It’s most fun when you’re with others, because that’s when the best conversations happen.

What was your life like before hej.build?

I’ve been studying for two and a half years, and for two of those years I also worked part-time as a student trainee in marketing. I spent the last six months on a semester abroad in Barcelona. 🌞

How do you keep up to date?

How could it be any different? On all sorts of social media platforms. But I also enjoy reading. At the moment, I’m reading the book »Happiness and Architecture« by Alain de Botton, which I bought in Hamburg during our offsite. 🚅

On top of that, there’s my student subscription to the AD and my annual highlight: a visit to the Salone del Mobile.

Who would you like to swap places with for a day?

That’s a tough one, but I’d pick my favourite interior designer, Dani Klaric. She’s set up her own business specialising in interior design and social media, opened her own vintage shop in LA, and also designs furniture, wallpaper, cushions and rugs on the side. And she has two adorable dogs – a dachshund and a Goldendoodle – which I’d love to borrow for the day. 🐕

What is your favourite building and why?

Richard Neutra’s Kaufmann Desert House in Palm Springs. It’s simply my absolute dream home. I love how each area has its own connection to the surroundings: the mountains, the sun, the wind. ⛰️
