Fresh ideas and new patterns for Tarkett

In autumn 2025, we supported the Tarkett team in the further development of a new sample tool. The basis for this was a compact workshop that brought marketing and sales together and focused on the target group's perspective. The result was a clear list of recommendations that Tarkett was able to transfer directly to the next development phase.

The Starting Point

Tarkett aimed to develop a new sampling system that would offer architects and interior designers (A&Ds) uncomplicated access to materials and documentation. To precisely meet the requirements of real-world planning, the development process needed to go beyond internal ideas. The Marketing and Sales teams wanted to understand which functions, formats, and structures are genuinely relevant to the target group.

hej.build was tasked with providing a structured assessment and creating the foundation for an internal briefing through a compact workshop.

Our Approach

We began with an in-depth content analysis: reviewing existing sample boxes and analyzing previous considerations. At this stage, Malte Just, member of our architectural advisory board, became involved. In a compact, two-hour session, we worked with him and his team to closely examine selected samples and gather valuable feedback. This is how the practical, target-group-focused workshop format was developed.

On-site, we led a four-hour workshop where we openly discussed the status quo of the sampling tool and clarified the architect's perspective. The session kicked off with a brief keynote on »Sampling as a Touchpoint in Planning Practice.« Subsequently, the Tarkett team, together with hej.build, collaboratively worked on the strengths, gaps, and opportunities of the current system.

All findings were compiled after the workshop into a checklist, which Tarkett will use as the foundation for further development.

The Result

The workshop fostered an intensive exchange between Marketing and Sales, demonstrating how internal expectations and external requirements complement each other. The joint analysis led to clear priorities and a tangible vision of how a usable, everyday sampling tool must be structured.

»The external perspective and your practical recommendations were very helpful to us. It was particularly valuable that Marketing and Sales sat down together. Thank you for initiating this exchange.« — Katja Kleine-Wilde, Head of Marketing D-A-CH, Tarkett
